The Culture That Drives Our Team At DiscGenics
It’s amazing to see the progress our team has made at DiscGenics—the key players that have been with us since the beginning and those who have recently joined us. We started in Tennessee in 2012 with just 4 people, and today as we near the end of 2022, we are approaching a team of 50, which is a huge milestone for us. We began this journey as more of a lab-based research operation but as we continued down the path toward commercialization, we have brought in different skillsets and talents to represent each new phase of the Company.
As we evolved from the preclinical to clinical phase, we started expanding rapidly for the development work ahead. We needed new talent to perform clinical operations, more accounting staff, and more manufacturing skillsets. Later, as we translated clinical stage manufacturing to commercial stage manufacturing and GMP-readiness, we needed more individuals with quality, manufacturing, and engineering experience.
I think a lot of what we provide our team at DiscGenics is the opportunity to be associated with a disruptive blockbuster therapy. We have such a diverse team. We have people coming out of their bachelors and masters programs and people in post-doc education where they have the opportunity to translate their academic knowledge into commercial application and help develop a therapy that is going down a BLA/drug pathway.
The same thing applies to other disciplines. Whether they’re coming out of engineering, finance, or quality. Our team is learning about the regenerative medicine market and what it’s like to build a company that’s developing a regenerative therapy, which is very unique.
As we have grown our team and morphed into many new disciplines, one thing that has remained constant within DiscGenics is our commitment to our core values of Integrity, Accuracy, Innovation, Teamwork, and Stewardship.
Every time we are faced with new challenges at any level, we ask our team to first consider these core values in every decision that is made on behalf of the Company. How do we face new challenges with integrity and accuracy? What solution can we apply that is innovative and brings new ideas to this industry? And how do we bring the best teams together to align on the same strategy together? And lastly, how can each member take extreme ownership of new challenges and become stewards of these life changing solutions?
